CONFEDERATE ISSUES IN THE NEWS
A Real South Carolina Jewel!
‘Red Doe Plantation’ was built in 1832 by Evander Gregg on land captured from Fanning, the Tory, by Andrew Hunter, the famous scout of Francis Marion. The plantation house including several out buildings has a rich history in the War for Southern Independence. The descendents of the original owner have given this plantation to the Sons of Confederate Veterans specifically the Pee Dee Rifles Camp with the only stipulation that a monument to their Confederate Heritage be placed on the grounds. Although restorations are underway, it will eventually house the Confederate Museum and be available upon request to all SC Camps for meetings and events. How this venture is handled now may influence future families and estates to donate historic structures and property to other camps throughout the state. When you here the call for help on work details, make preparations to assist or help financially. For further information contact:

Charge to the Sons of Confederate
Veterans:
"To
you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for
which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate
soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues,
the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and
which you also cherish. Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history
of the South is presented to future generations."

Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander General
United Confederate Veterans,
